Subtracting from the sum of human knowledge. *

Against my will I had to leave my apartment today to drop off our rent checks at our new management office, which is right around the corner from Diego's, one of the few decent Mexican restaurants in town. Obviously I went there for lunch. The guy who helped me is from Mexico and said he knew I was from California because of my accent (????) and the fact that I didn't have to ask what carne asada is. The second part I can believe because being in Utah, I'm sure he's run into hundreds of goons who have never felt the love of a carne asada burrito, or carne asada nachos, or a carne asada dinner plate. Fools.

The accent thing is what baffled me. I guess I've heard the rumors about the existence of this California accent before, but I've never been able to actually hear it and I definitely didn't think I had one. I guess I don't care if I do, it's not like I can do anything about it. It's just weird when a stranger points it out to you. Also, when he asked me where in California I'm from and I told him Lucerne Valley, he said that is very close to the other name for Satan. You know, Lucifer. I had never thought of that before, but I'm really glad he pointed it out. (Sarcasm.)

Sidenote: Hearing Jack Johnson in the background of a "Felicity" episode is weird. I feel like the show is really old, and hearing Jack Johnson on its soundtrack, who released his first album when I was in high school, makes me feel uncomfortably ancient. Yes, I'm avoiding my life and watching "Felicity" right now. Get your judgments away from me. (Also, I HATE this show. Staying home and watching it is becoming more stressful than the real life I'm trying to avoid. And the Ben/Felicity breakup music is really depressing.)

ANYWAY, this post is completely out of hand. I can practically hear my followers deleting me from their reading lists. I'm just going to get back to something less damaging to society, like finishing this disc of "Felicity" episodes.

P.S. - I despise our new housing management. But that's a rant for another post.

*I stumbled on this quote from Thomas Brackett Reed today and it was really the only way to describe myself today.
